Re: From California to Japan?
Fri, June 24, 2005 - 9:17 AMI have just booked passage from Long Beach to Tokyo on the SS Yellow Sea. This time I didn't use an agent, just contacted the shipping line direct. From Tokyo I plan to take the train to Osaka and then a ferry to Shanghai, then the train to Saigon. -

Sat, July 2, 2005 - 1:25 PMI will keep a blog at updownandstrange.blogspot.com/
The passage is 1320 euros, and takes 12 days. The cost includes all meals, first class accomodations, and deviation insurance. The ferry from Osaka to Shanghai is about $120 and takes 48 hours. From Shanghai to Saigon should be about $180 for train fare. I'll need visas for China and Vietnam, so thats another $100.
